A long-standing leader in industrial lighting has officially become a thing of the past. In August 2023, the final exemption permitting the sale of fluorescent lamps expired, and only those in existing inventory may be sold anymore. The main reason for the ban, besides the high energy consumption, is the mercury contained in fluorescent tubes.

Lighting manufacturers have long switched to LEDs. Customers using Electro Terminal's LBK 1 system also did not have to make any major changes after the exemption expired, as it is suitable for use with both fluorescent tubes and LEDs.

With our successor model, the LBK 2 system, we even go one step further than required by the current RoHs directive, because the LBK 2 system is optionally also available completely halogen-free. The system’s performance has been adapted to LED technology. The LBK 2 features a lower profile and accommodates up to 11 poles. This allows for two emergency lighting circuits or two DALI circuits. The connectors are adjustable, offering a flexible choice of phases. And there is another advantage of the LBK 2 that should not be underestimated: The maximum pitch is 2,300 mm, which means that fewer light points are required in the production of luminaires, which in turn saves valuable resources and optimizes the use of materials by luminaire manufacturers.
