Sustainability in production: Showcasing MICROCON SMD & MICROCON SMDP
Sustainability is of utmost importance in all areas of our production. We use renewable raw materials for our products whenever possible while meeting the high technical requirements for heat resistance, insulation strength and flame resistance. This already starts in the development process.
Our MICROCON SMD and MICROCON SMDP product groups are a good example of how we have managed to strike a balance between sustainability and technical demands:
• We strive to achieve outstanding product properties with the lowest possible use of raw materials. We do not add halogenated flame retardants, antimony trioxide or phosphorus. And we consistently avoid redundant plastic packaging.
• The plastic used in the insulating material contains up to 48% renewable raw materials (no feed or food plants).
• To minimize transportation, we source raw materials from European suppliers and manufacture our products fully automatically in our local manufacturing facility in Innsbruck.
• Any scrap generated in the manufacturing process is returned to the recycling loop. In the case of copper, this value is around 50%. Just like our suppliers, we are striving to constantly increase this rate.
